Power Transmission in India 2024
India’s transmission network is growing rapidly to support the increasing renewable energy capacity installations in the country. As India moves towards its renewable energy targets, the transmission segment is set for further growth. The Central Electricity Authority’s “Transmission System for Integration of over 500 GW Renewable Energy Capacity by 2030″ (December 2022) estimates that 50,890 ckm and 433,575 MVA of ISTS transmission line length and substation capacity respectively would be required for integrating additional wind and solar capacities by 2030. This would entail an estimated investment of Rs 2,442 billion.
