Bonneville Power Administration extends its Copperleaf license

Vancouver, December 5th, 2012 – Major Federal US power marketing agency Bonneville Power Administration has extended its Copperleaf license. BPA markets wholesale electrical power from 31 federal hydro projects in the Columbia River Basin, one nonfederal nuclear plant and several other small nonfederal power plants. The Federal Columbia River Power System (FCRPS) dams are operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Bureau of Reclamation, and are largely financed by BPA.

Copperleaf is used by BPA since June 2009 for long term asset planning, to develop its two-yearly Hydro Asset Strategy for the FCRPS, and for the management of ongoing capital projects through its Capital Working Group. The Copperleaf solution leverages the hydroAMP equipment condition assessment methodology originally designed by the FCRPS group and Hydro-Québec, and develops optimal long term asset plans based on asset risk. The latest Hydro Asset Strategy presentation can be viewed here.
