Copperleaf and Capgemini implement Asset Investment Planning at Hydro One
Vancouver, November 13th, 2012 – Capgemini Canada Inc., a member of the Capgemini Group, one of the world’s foremost providers of consulting, technology and outsourcing services, today announced an agreement with Hydro One Networks Inc., a large North American transmission and distribution electric utility, to implement an asset investment planning solution. Capgemini Canada will provide consulting and system integration services to re-engineer the asset investment planning processes and deploy a configured Copperleaf software solution aligned with the newly defined processes in 2012.
Capgemini Canada will lead the project with support from Copperleaf Technologies Inc. This is the first of its kind to be carried out by Capgemini Canada for a North American utility leveraging the experience behind Copperleaf’s software. The project is part of a larger effort by Hydro One to reshape its asset investment planning processes to better manage risk against capital and operational investment plans, which are imperative for today’s utilities dealing with asset-based funding. Following the implementation, it is anticipated that Hydro One will experience the benefits of a more rigorous and consistent approach to investment planning, decision-making and risk management across its transmission and distribution capital and operations expenditures.
A key differentiator in winning this project was Capgemini Group member’s experience leading successful related initiatives for clients in the United Kingdom. Capgemini’s UK Business Analytics team has a wide range of experience in implementing Asset Investment Planning solutions and building Asset Risk models across the Energy, Water and Rail sectors. By combining Capgemini’s experienced team with Copperleaf’s solution, which has strong implementation credentials at other electric utilities, it has resulted in a global team that is now delivering for Hydro One.
“Hydro One has been on a clear path with our Cornerstone program, which leverages technology to deliver great service to our customers as well as modernizing our operational processes resulting in identification and release of value opportunities.” said Michael Fabrizi, AIP project director, Hydro One “As we address this critical component of our business we want to ensure we have the right team in place, and we found that in Capgemini and Copperleaf.”
“This project reinforces Capgemini’s role as an invaluable project services supplier for today’s utilities,” said Steve Rogers, vice president and North American Chief Architect, Capgemini Smart Energy Services. “This type of initiative will remain critical for utilities in this market, and we’re well positioned to leverage our unique experience and software collaboration credentials to offer leading strategies and solutions to this industry.”
